Are They Still Funny? Jay Versace Edition
You may know him from that random meme you forgot you loved or for his colourful, stylish, eccentric clothes or you may simply know him as Jay Versace from Vine- RIP #gonetoosoon
But wherever and whatever you may know him from I bet you'r wondering if from his transition from 6.4 seconds Vine star to verified Insta celeb, if he has lost any of his classic humour.
With vine's demise many of their stars have flocked to other social media sites such as Instagram or Youtube but their content quality has gone downhill greatly. With Jay Versace I don't think this is the case; with the longer Instagram videos being allowed I feel like he is finally able to flesh out a lot of his jokes fully. To some it may not be as funny anymore because the pacing of the videos is slower as he is not confined to 6.4 seconds to tell the whole joke. But I can understand this feeling since some of his funniest moments are from his vine clips and I guess his content, like many others now lack that face paced humour we grew to love.
However this can't be blamed just on Jay Versace and we can't criticize his content for our sense of nostalgia about vine's hayday. I think us as an audience and fans are still fully adapting to this new style of video, which has worked for some like Jay and flopped for others. It has also made us realise to devastating effect in some cases that our favourite vine celebs are not actually that funny.
Thankfully Jay Versace doesn't fit into this category and although the type of content he makes is somewhat generic, he does add his own special take and youthful energy to his videos which allow him to stand out.
